Where there is a will – there is a way

The Republic of Tatarstan collaborates with many regions of the world and actively participates in international trade with over 100 countries. In the field of international relations and foreign economic collaboration, Tatarstan emphasizes the necessity of obtaining rational balance between its partners. Along with active development of contacts with Germany, France, USA and the Great Britain, Tatarstan maintains contacts with Turkey, Egypt, China, India and other countries.
Being the meeting point of civilizations, a symbolic “crossroads” of Eastern and Western, Asian and European religious and cultural traditions, Tatarstan has accumulated the richest experience of inter-ethnic and inter-confessional consensus. Nowadays, the Republic is developing its own contacts with world, building trading, scientific and cultural relations with proximate and distant partners.
“United in diversity” concept has been successfully implemented in the RT. The Chairman of the State Council – the Republic’s legislative body – is a member of the RF delegation to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
Mr. Farid Kh. Mukhametshin actively participates in sessions, conferences and seminars which are of the special interest of the Congress, thus promoting the topics under consideration:
The need for regional cultural identity;
Intercultural and inter-religious dialogue: and opportunity for local democracy;
Integration of youth to the society: development of cultural diversity and preservation of the cultural heritage;
The role of local and regional authorities in promotion of the dialogue of cultures and religions;
Electronic democracy and local authorities.
Mr. Farid Mukhametshin was active in the evaluation of the draft “European Charter on Regional Democracy”.
The Republic of Tatarstan is one of the most consistent advocates of federative relationships, a reliable pillar of the multi-ethnic federative Russian state. It confidently reached the orbit of federal and international cooperation as a republic capable to initiate very serious, ambitious projects. This was aided by establishing constructive relationships between the republic and the federal center and other regions of our country which are based on trust.
