Nation-wide primary elections to the State Duma of the 6th convocation start tomorrow in Tatarstan. Chairman of the State Council, secretary of the Tatarstan regional department of the United Russia party Farid Mukhametshin told journalists about the details.
Farid Mukhametshin said that the nation-wide primaries are organized and carried on in cooperation with the All-Russia People’s Front led by chairman of the United Russia Vladimir Putin in order to give members of the Front opportunity to take part in the decision making process through their representation in the lower chamber of the Russian parliament.
“We think it will help to attract new people and new ideas,” Farid Mukhametshin said. “We are the only party that carries this responsibility. We understand that many people want to become candidates and take part in the primaries. We are looking forward to see new politicians who will be able to make the work of the United Russia and Tatarstan representatives in the State Duma more active.”
