Tatarstan welcomed a Chinese delegation led by Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Mr. Li Zhanshu, who visited Russia and Tatarstan as the head of the Chinese Parliament for the first time. Accompanied by Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin, the delegation visited the Kazan Helicopter Plant and the Kazan Federal University.
Representatives of China visited Tatarstan as a part of their visit to Russian Federation. Earlier in Moscow they had had a meeting with President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matvienko and Speaker of the lower house of the Russian Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin. Chinese parliamentarians also had taken part in the Fifth meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation of the Federal Assembly of Russia and the National People’s Congress of China.
The key goal of the visit to Kazan was to determine ways of further development of inter-parliamentary relations and inter-regional cooperation between the two states.
