Tatarstan Parliament Speaker Farid Mukhametshin met with the new Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erkin Tukumov. The Chairman congratulated the diplomat on his new appointment and expressed confidence that the existing friendly relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tatarstan and Kazakhstan would further strengthen.

Commercial and economic relations between the two republics had been actively developing. “Last year the total value of trade amounted to US$707,79 million, and has reached US$398,2 million over the four months of this year. We will reach a billion in the near future,” Farid Mukhametshin said.
According to Erkin Tukumov, Kazan provided all necessary conditions for establishing diplomatic missions of different countries. “Opening of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Kazan was of great strategic value for our republics,” he said.
The meeting took place in the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan and was also attended by Vice-chair of the State Council Rimma Ratnikova, chair of the Committee on education, science, culture and national issues Rasil Valeev, representative of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Russia in Kazan Radik Vahitov and other officials.
