Farid Mukhametshin distinguished at international level

The medal was presented by Congress President Mrs Gudrun Mosler-Törnström. She commended Farid Mukhametshin's effective international activity and his great contribution to the development of democracy at the regional level.

“We have relied on the immense experience you have acquired as a statesman and politician at all levels of government. Your work has been outstanding. Especially on those subjects that are close to your heart, such as intercultural dialogue and integration of migrants. Thank you for your commitment and your valuable contribution to the work of the Congress,” Gudrun Mosler-Törnström said. Farid Mukhametshin represented the Russian Federation in the Congress for 15 years. Two consecutive terms he headed the Current Affairs Committee of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

Farid Mukhametshin admitted that he had mixed feeling: "During my work here I found a lot of friends. And I am very pleased to receive the award from the hands of the person with whom we have worked close together for a very long time. This award is regarded primarily as recognition of the contribution of all representatives of the delegation of Russian regions and municipalities in the promotion of open and direct dialogue with European colleagues".

As Chairman of State Council Farid Mukhametshin stressed that the participation of elected representatives in the system of multi-level parliamentarism on the platforms of the Council of Europe, the promotion of political initiatives on topical issues contributed to the strengthening of the role of the parliamentarism institute in the modern world. He became the first representative of Tatarstan in the Russian delegation to be awarded with such a high rank of the European Parliament and will continue his contribution as an expert.
