Mr. Mukhametshin as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education in Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe contributed to its work actively promoting the topics under consideration:
The need for regional cultural identity;
Intercultural and inter-religious dialogue: and opportunity for local democracy;
Integration of youth to the society: development of cultural diversity and preservation of the cultural heritage;
The role of local and regional authorities in promotion of the dialogue of cultures and religions;
Electronic democracy and local authorities;
Within these topics different types of events (sessions of the Committee, conferences, “round tables” and reports) have taken place within the last two years.
In October 2007 Mr. Mukhametshin participated and presented a report in the International Conference held in Innsbruck (Austria): Planning of the city territory: balance between the Modern and historic Heritage;
In April 2008 as a result of the initiative of Mr. Mukhamethin the International conference took place in Kazan “Universities and the cultural development in regions.” Mr. Mukhametshin delivered a report on the topic;
Mr. Farid Mukhametsin was active in the evaluation of the draft “European Charter on Regional Democracy”.
